My Fair Lady: Based on George Bernard Shaw’s celebrated romantic play Pygmalion, My Fair Lady is still considered to be in a class by itself. Club Fashion Whore: Hosted by May*Star, this discotheque and fashion show takes place on the second and fourth Saturday at the San Diego Sports Club from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. The event includes go-go boys and girls, costume contests and prizes, and midnight shopping. DJs spin a variety of electroclash, indietronic, shoegaze, indie dance rock, Brit pop, electro punk, synth pop, mod, new wave, ’80s, dark wave and more. $5 cover. Ethereal: The Sharp Gallery hosts an opening reception for Susan E. Roden’s “Ethereal” collection. The exhibition will feature dramatic paintings of vibrant skyscapes with edgy, mixed-media assemblage that questions the state of life. Space Age trunk show: Francisco Medavog’s The Space Age clothing collection will be featured at the Magpie Gallery and Boutique. The two-day extravaganza features some of the more affordable, yet amazingly stylish pieces from his collection. Items will include small clutches and coin purses, low-cut and thigh-high boots from the ’60s to ’80s, white garments, dresses, blouses, belts, T-shirts and more. Jazz concert: Celebrate Duke Ellington’s birthday in style at the Handlery Hotel and Resort for the Jazz Association of Greater San Diego’s concert of the month. Jamie Lidell: The British performer, who mixes funk and soul with electronica, will take the stage at the Casbah to promote his recent album Multiply. Gentleman’s Martini Night: San Diego’s weekly gathering for gay professionals and friends takes place at a different location each week. There are no membership fees, cover charges or hidden agendas. Live jazz, cheese and wine: Join the San Diego Wine & Culinary Center for live jazz and ever-changing selection of wines, cheeses and cocktails. Wines from Castello Banfi in Montalcino, Italy, will be featured this week. Featured wines are available as a complete flight for $7, by the half-glass for $3.50 to $5 or whole glass for $6 to $10. Cheese boards showcase some of the finest domestic and imported cheeses available.
