Compagnie Drift: The Swiss dance group will perform machine à sons (sound machine), a multi-media performance which removes boundaries between concert, theater and dance. Artists Open Studio: Over 60 local artists, including South Africa’s Rupert Reynecke, will show various paintings and drawings, mobiles, jewelry, photography, glass, woodwork, sculpture, prints, basketry, beadwork and ceramics at The Center. GLBT Community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt: The Imperial Court and The Center will co-sponsor an Easter egg hunt for children at 2:00 p.m. at Trolley Barn Park on Adams Avenue. Donations of Easter egg baskets for children ages 1 to 13 are still needed. Drop off stuffed baskets or items like stuffed bunnies and baskets to The Center, located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest. Marriage Equality Stories: The Center hosts this free red carpet premiere featuring the results of its Marriage Equality Digital Storytelling Project from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The Marriage Equality Digital Storytelling Project is a collaborative effort between San Diegans Against Marriage Discrimination, The Center’s Marriage Equality & Education Project and Equality California. The project is designed to help Californians understand the real impact of marriage discrimination, using images, narratives and stories, to become a voice for marriage equality. Tribal style belly dance class: Classes will feature a combination of slow movements and isolations, conditioning, different types of shimmies, locks, tribal formations, rhythmic combinations, zill drills, body awareness and more. Comfortable, fitted clothing is recommended, along with a scarf to highlight hip movements. Bring a yoga mat for warm-ups if you have one. Wine Tasting 101: If you love wine and would like to increase your wine knowledge and sophistication, this fun class at the Wine Encounter is for you. Tasting includes four varieties of premium-quality wines, plus a selection of cheeses. Reservations are required. The cost to attend is $39.99 and includes a $10 materials fee paid at class. Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit: The New York production of the show, which spoofs the Tony Awards (including best musical), performs at San Diego’s Theatre in Old Town. Performances in San Diego are scheduled until June 4. Showtimes are Tuesday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m., with a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Wednesdays; Fridays at 8:00 p.m., Saturdays at 5:00 and 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 3:00 p.m. Prices are $31 to $43, depending on performance and seating section. Trying: Feisty and plain-spoken, Sarah works as a secretary for Judge Biddle, the former attorney general to Franklin D. Roosevelt. She is determined to work through Biddle’s irritable and argumentative nature. Based on writer Joanna McClelland Glass’ own real-life experiences, the play is a bittersweet look at the healing power of companionship and a meaningful search through the slow decline of age.
