Letters to the Editor

“My partner lives in the neighborhood, and has been warmly welcomed by the new owners of this establishment.”
Dear Editor:
Small quibble with your letter writer Tom Giles, who in aside suggested that members of our community aren’t welcome at the Blue Foot Lounge, formerly known as Wolf’s/ReBar. My partner lives in the neighborhood, and has been warmly welcomed by the new owners of this establishment. In fact, they’ve been explicit in saying to us that they want an atmosphere that is welcoming to all people. Instead of relying on your letter writer’s remark, I hope members of our community will feel welcome in stopping in and checking out the space for themselves.

“As far as losing our ‘swagger,’ it is more of a ‘proud swish.’”
Dear Editor:
RE Mathew Tsien’s “swagger” letter to the editor, glt 4/6/06
Democratic National Committee Chair Howard Dean has abolished the Democratic Party’s constituent outreach desks, including the post of director of lesbian and gay outreach, and replaced them with the American Majority Partnership.
Chairman Dean created the American Majority Partnership to change how the DNC reaches out to our core constituencies, replacing a series of isolated operations with a proactive, constituency-focused, issues-based program. The AMP is housed in the Chairman’s office to elevate the visibility and profile of this critical work. The AMP coordinates constituency-related activities across all DNC departments. As Damien LaVera, the DNC spokesperson assigned to discuss gay rights issues explained, “It’s an expansion of what we had before”.
As far as losing our “swagger”, it is more of a “proud swish”. And it gets “swishier” every time I think about Duke Cunningscam in jail, and wannabe majority leader David Dreier stabbed in the back by the theocratic nuts he enabled.
Have a wonderful campaign.

“…$300 was raised for Mama’s Kitchen!”
Dear Editor:
On behalf of myself and the entire Golden State Gay Rodeo Association Greater San Diego Chapter, I would like to thank all the people who made my 40th birthday party and rodeo kick-off party such a tremendous success - and thanks to the generosity of those who bought raffle tickets, $300 was raised for Mama’s Kitchen!
I would like to personally thank Anthony Ovaldson and Tracy Brumm, our candidates for Mr. and Ms. San Diego Rodeo 2006 who worked tirelessly selling the raffle tickets. Clayton Jacobsen at Hamburger Mary’s and Victor Bautista of Chilango’s Mexico City Grill both generously donated to list of prizes given out, and of course to the men and women who opened their hearts and pocketbooks!!
Thank you again one and all, and I hope to see everyone at the rodeo April 29th and 30th - let’s all cowboy and cowgirl up!!
