The Pet Emergency & Specialty Center opened 13 years ago to provide overnight veterinary emergency and urgent care in the San Diego area. Over the years, the center has grown into a multiple-specialty veterinary hospital that provides advanced care in internal medicine, surgery, exotic animal medicine, critical/intensive care, emergency medicine and urgent care. They offer advanced imaging, radiology and nuclear medicine in association with an off-site facility opened to provide the care to the center’s patients. The center is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and strives to provide the best and most compassionate care and service to patients and clients.

Pet Emergency & Specialty Center specialists see cases by referral from family veterinarians, and work with clients, pets, veterinarians and other specialists to develop treatment protocols or advanced diagnostics and therapeutic procedures. Examples include: ultrasound, endoscopy, bronchoscopy, surgical fracture repair and complicated soft-tissue surgeries. The emergency service department is staffed 24 hours a day by doctors and technicians who are equipped and trained to handle everything from minor emergencies to advanced intensive care.

Beyond their medical commitment, the center is an active participant in the community, supporting organizations and causes such as AIDS Walk San Diego, Hurricane Katrina relief, the La Mesa Dog Park, the Baja Animal Sanctuary and the Helen Woodward Foundation.
