The Future of Food: The Kava Lounge presents this film investigating the disturbing truth behind the unlabeled, patented, genetically engineered foods that have quietly filled U.S. grocery store shelves for the past decade. From the prairies of Saskatchewan, Canada, to the fields of Oaxaca, Mexico, this film gives a voice to farmers whose lives and livelihoods have been negatively impacted by this new technology. The Violet Hour: Fledgling book publisher John Seavering is trying to decide whether to print a book written by his best friend or one written by his mistress. Before he steps into a Broadway-bound cab that night, he discovers the effect his actions will have, and that his story may have already been written. North Country: Planned Parenthood Holliday Family Administration Center in Mission Valley will be screening the film North Country: a fictionalized account of the first major successful sexual harassment case in the United States – Jenson v. Eveleth Mines. The film stars Charlize Theron and tells the story of a woman who endured a range of abuse while working as a miner and then filed and eventually won the landmark 1984 lawsuit. Runway in the Park: A fund-raiser for Ordinary Miracles, this event features a fashion show across from the Museum of Man and a dance party with DJ Bruce inside the museum. Showcasing styles to suit every taste, from glitz to glamour and chic to casual, the event features a sampling of San Diego County’s top designers, boutiques and stores, as well as New York designers. North Park Festival of the Arts: This free community celebration of art, culture and entertainment for all ages features the work of artists from across the country, juried into the show by a panel from members of the San Diego arts community. Four Dogs and a Bone: Brenda, a seemingly guileless young actress, has a meeting with Bradley, a troubled, middle-aged producer, to discuss the film on which they are working. Brenda wants to be a star, but Collette, the other actress in the film, is in her way. Brenda must convince Bradley that the film is in serious trouble unless he makes certain changes, one of which is taking out Collette’s part.
