Our pick is Bishop’s Wood: Sit in the shade of the grandstand and pick your winners at Del Mar races “where the turf meets the surf.” It’s been a hit since 1937, so it can’t be all that bad, and if you choose your trifecta wisely you could walk home with a few extra bucks in your pocket. Post time is 2:00 p.m. The track is located at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd. in Del Mar. Call (858) 755-1141 for more information.
Make sure you don’t miss a spot: The living artwork from Michael Michelle’s 2004 Body Painting Calendar will be on display at a release party tonight, starting at 8:00 p.m. The $15 admission fee gets you in the door with a free calendar, and complimentary buffet and models, along with the artist himself, will be on hand. The curtain rises on Eden Lane at 8:00 p.m. at The La Jolla Playhouse, located at 2910 La Jolla Village Drive. Call (858) 550-1010 for more information.
