Fashion show benefits Ordinary Miracles

Fashion took center stage on May 21 at San Diego’s “Runway in the Park,” a Leonard Simpson Fashion Forward production at the Museum of Man, located in Balboa Park. More than 400 people congregated in support of the fund-raising event benefiting Ordinary Miracles, a nonprofit, volunteer-driven organization that started with local bar employees donating money from their tips during the December holiday season in 1996. Their mission is to generate hope and love, inspire participation and enrich the quality of life by serving the community and its abused, sick and hungry.
“It was good to see a lot of people that we have not seen in the past supporting Ordinary Miracles, and it’s always great to see our friends from the gay community,” said the nonprofit’s co-founder, Big Mike. “It was fun, and the museum was a beautiful backdrop for the fashion show.”
The Ordinary Miracles Runway in the Park committee includes Fernando Lara, Nigel Meyer, Wes Edwards, Noel Guazon and John Brooks.
“I want to thank the committee for their commitment to Ordinary Miracles, and, of course, the fabulous fashion show that was produced by Leonard Simpson and his assistant Claudia,” said Big Mike. “We also want to thank Kimberly Hunt from KUSI who came back for the fifth year to host with Trixie.”
