Sapphic Cinema: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s movie is When Night is Falling. B-Side Players: An ethnically diverse group of artists with various passions for a broad range of musical styles, the B-Side Players have been turning heads since their beginning in Southern California in 1993. With a heavy ’70s influence, the seven-piece combo blends Latin, funk, rock, reggae and soul. Curdled: This art show at Magpie Gallery features new surreal and alluring work by Jason Sherry and David B. Cuzick in a group of mixed-media works on display through June 14. Mingle at SDVAG: The San Diego Visual Artists Guild hosts an event featuring poetry readings, acoustic performances, a fashion trunk show and an art show. Pulp!: Join the San Diego Democratic Club during their Members Night Out at Diversionary Theatre. The play features drag kings, cabaret jazz, love triangles and forbidden Sapphic lust in homage of 1950s lesbian pulp fiction. Jazz at the Studio: Those inclined are invited to tear up the dance floor at Athenaeum for a concert featuring one of San Diego’s leading jazz guitarists, Jaime Valle, beginning at 8:00 p.m. The University Heights studio, used primarily for art classes, will play Latin music and include an area for dancing in addition to regular concert seating.
