1000 Beds: From a gay teen’s head-on collision with life in a sleazy hotel across the street from the Hollywood Bowl to an ecstatic vision of a sex-positive future on a mattress in a police holding cell after a freedom-of-expression civil disobedience action, performance artist Tim Miller’s show is a fiercely funny and inspiring story about the transformative power of art and the richness of gay identity lived out loud. Art Around Adams: View a collection of arts-oriented events hosted by local businesses and residents who open up their spaces for an evening of performance art (including live music, dance and theater) and gallery-style exhibitions of mixed-media art by local and international artists. MozartFest: In celebration of Mozart’s 250th birthday, a free, all-day event in downtown San Diego near the County Administration Building and in Little Italy takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be Mozart-themed performances by Jean Isaacs’ San Diego Dance Theater, Malashock Dance, the California Ballet, the San Diego Ballet, Icarus Puppet Company, Westwind Brass and San Diego Small Opera. Zhivago: La Jolla Playhouse presents this musical as part of their Out & About series. From the chaos of war and revolution comes one of the greatest love stories of a generation.
