Dynastaes – Legends of Sichuan: Explore China’s many dynasties and ethnicities through song, dance, acrobats and face-change. With an 18-member dance troupe, the Zigong Acrobats and a face-changing artist, the show promises to be an incredible treat for all, with over 30 performers. Sapphic Cinema: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s movie is The Color Purple. The Chris Klich Jazz Quintet: The popular local jazz band performs at Claire de Lune from 8:30 to 11:00 p.m. The group will be playing jazz classics, standards and original jazz compositions. Taste of Adams Avenue: The sixth annual event takes place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. A trolley bus takes you to diverse restaurants and eateries along Adams Avenue to enjoy portions of food specialties and hors d’oeuvres. Mini-vinitaly wine tasting class: Join the Wine Smarties as they explore the wine regions of Italy at Apertivo. In this series, explore the history of Italian winemaking while tasting what wines made Italy famous and why. The tasting takes place from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. and costs $40 per person. Stitch and Pull trunk show: Rory Rabut threads humor and optimism into every piece of wearable art he makes. Insight seminar: At 7:00 p.m., the Old Globe Theatre hosts an insight seminar for Othello, their newest play. The event provides an opportunity to hear from the actors, designers and directors. Das Barbecü: The Theatre in Old Town presents this wild, raucous romp and country-western musical fable of love versus greed. When Bruno’s obsessed roommate and Audrey’s estranged mother arrive, careful plans for the future give way to head-shaking comedy and hilariously off-kilter dialogue. Performances take place Sundays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 7:00 p.m. and Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., with matinees at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Nighttime Zoo: The San Diego Zoo is extending its hours during the summer from June 24 to Sept. 4. Most activities take place between 4:00 and 8:00 p.m., but guests are allowed to stay on the premises until 9:00 p.m. The zoo adventure begins early with animal visits and ends late with special shows and music, as well as some close-up animal encounters. Andy Warhol’s Dream America: Andy Warhol was instrumental in bringing silkscreen printing out of the commercial world and into the studios of fine artists. From the 1967 Marilyn Monroe print suite to the 1986 Cowboys and Indians portfolio, this exhibition at the San Diego Museum of Art offers a broad and thorough overview of his printmaking career. The exhibit shows until Sept. 10. Admission is $7 to $10.
