Owned by life partners Bill Freyer and Tim Melodick, Pleasures & Treasures, a new store featuring an eclectic mix of leather, sensual aides, clothing and art, opened June 15 in Hillcrest.

“I’ve had friends that have had similar stores, and helped out and worked at a few, so I decided why not open our own place?” Freyer said. “So my partner in life and business, Tim, and I started looking. We found this great old Craftsman house that we were able to open our store in. We are avoiding bright lights and staying with lamp lighting for ambience.”

Pleasures & Treasures will also have an art gallery, which will focus on erotic art but will also feature other types of art. The first featured artist will be Tom Adkins, and his art will be on display June 15 to July 15, with a special showing June 28 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. to meet the artist.

The owners plan on doing consignment on previously-owned leather goods, art, small unique items and some furniture.

Freyer and Melodick have been domestic partners for six and a half years, have three Yorkies and are active in the community. Melodick works as a teacher, and Freyer is the founder of San Diego’s RHSD and has also judged at many leather events. Both partners attend as many functions as possible to support the community.

“We are looking forward to being a bigger part of the gay community, and the business community as well,” Freyer said. “Stop in and say hi, where there will be a cup of tea or coffee waiting for you.”
