Twelve and Holding
In the tradition of Stand by Me, director Michael Cuesta chronicles the lives of three inseparable 12-year-olds as they navigate the dark side of suburbia. Sparked by the tragic, unintended death of one’s twin brother at the hands of local bullies, the trio of adolescents band together as they grapple with feelings of revenge, the burden of grief, issues of self-esteem and the indelible experiences of growing up.
Lemming
Young engineer Alain and his sweet wife, Bénédicte, invite Alain’s boss, Richard, and wife Alice to dinner at their suburban Toulouse home. The encounter between the two couples turns disastrous when Alice begins behaving weirdly, creates a scene and forces her husband to leave. The discovery of a mysterious rodent’s corpse blocking the waste pipe of the young couple’s kitchen sink does nothing to help, as irrationality seeps into everyone’s hitherto orderly lives.
