4 O’clock Fridays: 91X kicks off its concert series at the Del Mar Race Track. The season kicks off with the alternative rock band The Flaming Lips. The show is free with your paid racetrack admission, which is $10. Friday’s concerts are held in the Plaza de Mexico. Sapphic Cinema: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center hosts a film series of works by, for and about lesbian, bisexual, transgender and feminist women on the fourth Friday of every month at 7:00 p.m. This month’s movie is a documentary called Forbidden Love – The Unashamed Stories of Lesbian Lives. Hillcrest Wind Ensemble: The group will present a concert celebrating Western song at 7:30 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Church, located at 4190 Front St. “The Streets of La-Re-Do!” will feature a selection of Western songs, including “Oklahoma!,” “Suite Of Old American Dances” and “Saturday Night Waltz And Hoe Down,” as well as pieces from Dances with Wolves and The Magnificent Seven. Hip-Hop Is Everywhere: Eveoke Dance Theatre presents this performance created and choreographed by Anthony Rodriquez with artistic director Gina Angelique and dancer Yvonne Hernandez, which runs July 21-Aug. 13 at the Tenth Avenue Theatre. Showtimes are Thursdays through Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. Tickets are $20 general admission and $15 for students/seniors. Duncan Sheik: The singer/songwriter takes the stage at the Belly Up Tavern to promote his new release, Limousine. Sheik’s contemplative songs are combined with acoustic ramblings, rock and sweeping orchestral sounds. Piano songstress Vienna Teng opens. Actor’s Alliance festival: The 16th annual festival runs until July 30 at the Lyceum Theatre, showcasing more than 100 of San Diego’s finest actors in 35 short and diverse plays over an 11-day span. Wine tasting cruise: Glide through the canals and waterways of the Coronado Cays on a Venetian gondola along with Loews Coronado Bay Resorts’ sommelier Kurt Kirschenman as he presents a tasting flight of three wines paired with appetizers by Chef Martin T. Out at the Globe: Join the Old Globe Theatre for Othello or The Sisters Rosensweig as part of “Out at the Globe,” a series of evenings for the GLBT theater-going community. A pre-show reception with a hosted wine and martini bar, appetizers and dessert begins at 6:30 p.m. on the Old Globe Plaza, and the show begins at 8:00 p.m. Tickets to each play are $19 to $52. GSDBA Mixer: The Greater San Diego Business Association presents its annual Pride mixer from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Bourbon Street. The event will feature a live performance by Ashley Matte as well as food from Lei Lounge, Baja Betty’s and Hamburger Mary’s. Raffles will be conducted with prizes provided by the sponsors.
