Gaywatch party: This not-to-be-missed party during Pride weekend featuring DJ Bryan Pruett runs from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Lafayette Hotel & Suites, and is being put on by Michael Smith Promotions. Elegant photography exhibition: A reception for acclaimed photographer and artist Duane Cramer takes place at the Hotel Solamar from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. The exhibit is part of the hotel’s Art-at-6 program. Cramer’s provocative pieces include black-and-white images of male and female nudes, architectural elements from across the globe and some recognizable personalities. RSVP to rsvp@grafittipr.net. Acura Classic: This professional women’s tennis tournament features an impressive draw that includes top-ranked players in the WTA, including Venus Williams, Maria Sharapova, Kim Clijsters, Nadia Petrova, Justine Henin-Hardenne, Mary Pierce, Lindsay Davenport, Elena Dementieva, Svetlana Kuznetsova and Martina Hingis. Serena Williams has entered as a wildcard after having been off the court with a knee injury. Fully Committed: David McBean returns to San Diego in the one-man play Fully Committed to play out-of-work actor Sam, who single-handedly mans the reservation desk for Manhattan’s number-one restaurant and the 40 other characters who will stop at nothing to land a prime reservation or the right table. The play runs until Aug. 13. Showtimes are Thursdays to Saturdays at 8:00 p.m., and Sundays at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Tickets are $25 to $29. Authors & Art: Tim Field partners with the San Diego Writers Ink for an event that integrates literature and art at San Diego Art Institute’s Museum of the Living Artist. The event features a reading by notable author Bernard Cooper, as well as readings by other local authors. The event takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. with a reception that will include food, beverages and a last chance to view solo shows featuring artists Claire-Lise Matthey Anderegg and Jack B. Dyke March: Women in San Diego are taking to the streets during Pride weekend for the ninth annual Dyke March. A rally begins outside The Center, located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest, at 1:00 p.m., with opening remarks by Abby Schwartz (a.k.a. MC Flow), Margot Kelley, Laura Jane and others. Peaches burst onto the scene in the ’80s in Berlin with her electroclash style of music and her fearless, apolitical gender play. She’s touring to promote her latest album, Impeach My Bush. The Sky Tonight: On the first Wednesday of every month, the Reuben H. Fleet Science Center planetarium presents “The Sky Tonight” at 7:00 p.m. There will be free telescope viewing after the show, hosted by the San Diego Astronomy Association, weather permitting. Jazz in the Park: On the first Wednesday of each month, the San Diego Museum of Art presents regional jazz and blues musicians in an early concert at Copley Auditorium. Summerfest: La Jolla Music Society celebrates the 20th anniversary of Summerfest with 15 performances on opening night, including artists Cho-Liang Lin, Gil Shaham, Yeffim Bronfman, Jahja Ling, the San Diego Symphony and many more. Screen on the Green: In conjunction with Andy Warhol’s “Dream America,” the San Diego Museum of Art presents its seventh annual free outdoor film festival on Thursday nights in August. This week’s movie is Some Like It Hot, Billy Wilder’s classic 1960 comedy. The movie takes place on the museum’s east lawn in Balboa Park. Seating is limited to the first 1,000 guests.
