Lincolnesque: John Strand’s fascinating new play explores contemporary politics and the legacy of Abraham Lincoln. Audiences will see the intriguing world of Washington election campaigns through the eyes of two brothers: Leo, a speech writer for a struggling congressional candidate, and Francis, an intelligent and passionate individual who just happens to believe he’s Abraham Lincoln. Pain and pleasure: Join The Wine Smarties for “Pain and Pleasure Wine Pairings and Anti-Pairings,” the first in a two-part series that aims to help attendees better understand their palates, and school them on the bittersweet love affair between food and wine. Linda Kardoff at Ray at Night: The second Saturday of every month is Ray at Night on Ray Street in North Park, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Multiple galleries stay open late, featuring live music, beverages and refreshments. The unusual, figurative oil paintings of Linda Kardoff will be on display this month at the San Diego Art Department, located at 3830 Ray St. Ray at Night, a free event, is located on Ray Street between University Avenue and North Park Way.

CityFest: The 23rd anniversary of the Hillcrest CityFest will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Fifth Avenue between University Avenue and Upas Street. There will be live continuous entertainment on three stages, several hundred vendors, two food courts, a beer garden and a new VIP Cabaret tent. Admission is free to the festival, but the VIP Cabaret tent is $10 and attendees must be at least 21 years old to enter. Pirates and planks: Now’s your chance to act like a pirate on an actual pirate ship at the San Diego Maritime Museum’s “Pirates of the Pacific” exhibit on the HMS Surprise. The exhibit mixes history, anthropology and performance art, and includes an exhibit on the notorious buccaneer William Dampier, along with infamous Chinese pirates. Pirate attire is encouraged, but real guns, swords and knives will not be permitted. Admission to the museum is $12 for adults and the museum, located at 1492 N Harbor Dr., is open 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (619) 234-9153.

Bingo night at The Center: The Center hosts a Bingo night on the first three Tuesdays of every month, helping to raise money for The Center’s programs and services. Doors to the auditorium open at 6:15 p.m., and games last until 9:30 p.m. Admission for 10 games is $10 for a six-card game pad. Additional pads can be purchased for $5 each. Screen on the Green: The 1956 classic The Searchers, starring John Wayne and considered to be the best Western of all time, screens at 8:00 p.m. as part of the San Diego Museum of Art’s Screen on the Green annual free outdoor film festival.
