Portrait of a one track mind: Frida Kahlo: Portrait of an Icon consists of 60 photographic portraits of the artist Frida Kahlo. Some are one-of-a-kind snapshots, others are by Kahlo’s father, who was a commercial portrait photographer in Mexico in the early 1900s. The exhibition is unique because of his rare, early photographs, as well as those by photographers Manuel Alvarez Bravo and Imogen Cunningham. At the Museum of Photographic Art in Balboa Park, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information, call (619) 238-7559.

A room without a view: May would have it made if only her interior designer would put a window in the bedroom wall. In the play Eden Lane, May battles for her outside view while the scenery inside her life is looking worse for the wear. Her hubby’s guzzling martinis like mad and her daughter and her gay best friend aren’t as they seem. The curtain rises at 8:00 p.m. at The La Jolla Playhouse, located at 2910 La Jolla Village Drive.
