Holly Noel Bruce started Holly’s Grooming inside of Pet Me Please Boutique on May 15.
Bruce, who has been grooming professionally for 10 years, decided to work independently after spending years working for others.
“I wanted a more personal business,” she said. “I offer full service for my pets. I do a lot of extras and include them in my bath or groom prices. You get more for less money.
“I also allow my dogs to roam and play while they’re here,” she continued. “I don’t keep them for hours and hours or lock them up all day. Plus, I work inside a unique boutique full of great food, products, clothes and toys for dogs and cats of all sizes.” Pet Me Please Boutique is owned by Darren Palmer.
A self-professed dog lover, Bruce said she wanted to work in a fun atmosphere that had a personable touch. She loves music and the outdoors, and belongs to a San Diego women’s beach and surf group and volunteers for Hillcrest cleanups and San Diego LGBT Pride.
“I will donate a free groom to these organizations to help raise money, as well as [donate] all the free time I have,” she said. “As my business grows into one of profit, I would like to give back more. I am a San Diego native and I love this city. I’d hate to see it go corporate and ruin all of the old, quaint neighborhoods and the ma-and-pa shops.”
