The San Diego Bulldogs Wrestling Club will kick off their 2006-2007 wrestling season with a free beginners clinic and freestyle wrestling demo on Saturday, Sept. 23, from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the main auditorium of The Center, located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest.

Wrestling is gaining popularity in the straight and gay communities. Anybody who has an interest or curiosity in the sport is encouraged to attend. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet and greet the Bulldogs wrestlers, watch a live wrestling demonstration and learn the basics of freestyle wrestling.

The San Diego Bulldogs hold beginners clinics two to three times a year to give prospective wrestlers a chance to learn how to get started in the sport and to step onto a wrestling mat.

Attire for the clinic is workout clothes (gym shorts, T-shirt, flat-bottomed sneakers). It is also recommended that new wrestlers bring a sweat towel and a bottle of water. Attendees will receive a Bulldogs T-shirt.

The Bulldogs just ended a wrestling season that saw membership in the club triple, the purchase of a brand new wrestling mat, and several wrestlers receiving medals at Gay Games VII, which took place in Chicago this past July.

The San Diego Bulldogs Wrestling Club is San Diego’s only year-round, diverse and all-inclusive wrestling club catering to anybody who has an interest in the sport of amateur freestyle wrestling.
