Front Runners & Walkers team to participate in Asthma Walk
Fifth annual 5-mile Asthma Walk to take place Sept. 24
Published Thursday, 21-Sep-2006 in issue 978
The Front Runners & Walkers San Diego will field a team in San Diego’s fifth annual Asthma Walk, taking place Sunday, Sept. 24, at Liberty Station in Point Loma, the site of the former Naval Training Center.
The group will raise money for programs of the American Lung Association and increase awareness about asthma, an incurable and chronic condition that can be life-threatening unless properly managed, which affects approximately 314,000 children and adults in San Diego County.
“We’re excited to be raising money and raising visibility of a disease that is keeping both kids and adults feeling left out and left behind,” said Janie Davis, president and CEO of the American Lung Association of San Diego and Imperial Counties.
MediciNova and Team Research San Diego are sponsoring the Asthma Walk. Toyota Prius and Glaxo Respiratory Institute are national sponsors of the event. Asthma Walk, now in more than 150 communities throughout the U.S., supports local education, prevention and patient services.
For more information, call (619) 297-3901 or visit www.lungsandiego.org. Liberty Station is located in Point Loma at 2877 Farragut Rd.
