Lush Life: Diversionary Theatre will present Lush Life, a cabaret performance by Angelo D’Agostino and G. Scott Lacy, on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 6-7. Subtitled “Boys, Blues & The Majesty of the Blues,” Lush Life is the namesake of Billy Strayhorn’s most popular tune, and since its conception has become a concert event with crowds cheering from coast to coast. Proceeds from this special event will benefit Diversionary Theatre. Gay Days: The unofficial Gay Days are back at Disneyland Resort in Anaheim. Enjoy a weekend at the “happiest place on Earth” as the gays flock to the park. Worst movie ever: Landmark La Jolla Village Cinemas is proud to present the worst movie ever made! San Diego Women Film Festival lunch: The San Diego Women Film Festival presents a Filmmakers Lunch at 12:00 noon, providing festival attendees an opportunity to dine with the festival filmmakers and discuss their films. The lunch costs $20 and will take place at the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. Precious Festa: Visitors to the Little Italy Precious Festa will be treated to an array of Italian music on three stages, as well as an opportunity to take in an Italian motor sports show, observe a collegiate cheese-carving competition, view an Italian street-painting festival and visit more than 150 food and vendor booths while watching the annual stickball tournaments. Eddie Mekka (a.k.a. Carmine Ragusa) of “Laverne & Shirley” fame will headline the event. Free admission Tuesdays: Several museums in Balboa Park have no admission on Tuesday. This second Tuesday includes the Museum of Photographic Arts, the San Diego History Museum and the Veterans Museum and Memorial Center. The Timken Museum of Art is always free. Suds and Studs: San Diego State University’s LGBT Student Union invites the community to the Big Gay BBQ: “It’s OK to drop the soap.” The twice-yearly event features a free barbecue dinner, entertainment, community information tables, a pageant, a date auction and an art show. Harvest Celebration: The Prado Restaurant at Balboa Park will host the seventh annual Harvest Celebration of Food and Wine, featuring more than 50 wines from vineyards near and far, cooking demonstrations, artwork, beer tasting, food, sake tasting, a sushi bar and musical performances by Ashley Matte and Chini and Camberos. San Diego Asian Film Festival: Billed as San Diego’s largest Pan Asian cultural event, an estimated 15,000 attendees will experience more than 130 short and feature films from more than 15 different countries, including the U.S., Canada, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, China, Singapore, Mongolia, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines, during the seventh annual San Diego Asian Film Festival. This year marks the festival’s most competitive year for dramatic narrative feature-length films, and boasts a record number of 13 Asian-American feature film selections.
