Bob Pickens and Erik Keskinen founded Pomegranate Home in 1999 with the idea that houses should be comforting and welcoming living spaces for both owners and guests. They strive to enhance people’s daily experience by improving all aspects of interior living.

From the bedroom to the kitchen, Pomegranate Home offers unique pieces that allow customers to explore their personalities and tastes through home décor. The store, which is located in Hillcrest, is laid out so that customers can see the products in a simulated environment. The store is simple enough so buyers can use their own imaginations in designing a room they’ll love.

The passion that Pickens and Keskinen hope their customers infuse into their homes is similar to the passion that drives the company. During college, Pickens temporarily put aside his architectural studies and followed his desire to start the costume company Disguise, Inc. This gave him a strong entrepreneurial and business background, and prepared him for his and Keskinen’s dive into the home-decorating industry.

The two had an extensive furniture collection of their own and the next logical step was opening a showroom. The style that emerged was an urban yet affordable modernity with a Southern California flare. Before long, Pomegranate Home began offering customizable options in addition to their unique collections. Today, most of the furniture offered can be custom-upholstered in more than 600 different materials.
