5 Minute Man: Sick of meeting men in bars? Family Health Centers of San Diego’s Gay Men’s Health Program conducts this fun and interactive alternative to meeting guys in San Diego. Coming out in a Jewish high school: J*Pride will present Hineini: Coming Out In a Jewish High School at 7:00 p.m. at The Center, located at 3909 Centre St. in Hillcrest. Hineini (Hebrew for “here I am”) chronicles the story of Shulamit Izen’s fight to establish a gay-straight student club at her Jewish high school in the Boston area and the transformative impact of her campaign on everyone involved. A panel discussion including Izen and the producer and executive director will take place immediately following both film screenings. Gentleman’s Martini Night: San Diego’s weekly gathering for gay professionals and friends takes place at a different location each week. There are no membership fees, cover charges or hidden agendas. Winemaking 101: The first in a two-part winemaking class takes place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at The Wine Bank, located at 363 Fifth Ave., Suite 100 in downtown San Diego. Sponsored by The Wine Smarties, the first part of Winemaking 101 will educate different winemaking techniques and how to taste them. Admission to part 1 is $40 and includes nibbles and wine. Part 2 will take place on Sunday, Nov. 5, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Belle Marie Winery, located at 26312 Mesa Rock Rd. in Escondido, at which attendees will apply what they’ve learned in part 1 while taking touring the winery.
