Nightmare on Normal Street
The Center’s annual Halloween celebration runs from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. on Normal Street between University Avenue and Blaine Street in Hillcrest.
This year’s celebration will be for those 18 and older and will include a costume contest with more than $1,000 in prizes. The parade of costumes will be emceed by Nicole Murray-Ramirez. The Bud Light Beer Garden will return, DJ Talonya will spin dance tunes and there will be a special performance by The Amuse Drum Chorus.
A $5 donation will be accepted at the entrance to support The Center’s programs and services.
There will also be a special “Eerie Extravaganza” for youth ages 14-20 (with identification) from 7:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Youth Center. This celebration will feature a costume contest with prizes, films, food, DJs and more. For more information, visit www.youthcentersd.com.
A special Halloween Carnival sponsored by Family Matters for GLBT-headed families, will take place from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in The Center’s auditorium, located at 3909 Centre St. There will be carnival games and a costume contest. Gentlemen’s Martini Night benefit for I AM Foundation
The Gentlemen’s Martini Night hosts a Masquerade ball aboard the U.S. Grant from 6:00 to 11:00 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the I AM Foundation to help gift books to children around the world. The U.S. Grant is located at 326 Broadway in downtown San Diego.
The evening will feature live entertainment including vocalists, a pianist, a harpist and a guitarist. Complimentary food will be provided by local restaurants with a cash bar. There will be a silent auction as well as the sale of Men of the Gentlemen’s Martini Night.
