Opened only five months ago, Tioli’s Crazy Burger has already been featured in five magazines and newspapers, and also on Channel 8.

The restaurant offers 30 different handcrafted burgers, European salads, great draft beer, a cozy wine bar, daily happy hour and wonderful specials.

Owner Wolfgang Peter Schlicht moved to San Diego in November 2005 after 37 years in the restaurant business worldwide, and said he loves it here.

Born in Munich, Germany, he has gained extensive wine knowledge through visits to wine regions in Germany, Austria, France, Italy, Australia and California, and has been trained as a sommelier.

At Tioli’s Crazy Burger, Schlicht makes it his daily mission to serve quality food at reasonable prices in the up-and-coming area of North Park, where he estimates 60 percent of his clientele is gay and lesbian.

He is a member of the Monterey Chefs Association and of the Carmel Wine Association and was knighted by the California Knights of the Vine.
