“Some Still Like It Hot”: The Balboa Theatre Foundation is paying tribute to legendary sex goddess Marilyn Monroe from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Stingaree to help raise the final funds for renovating and reopening the illustrious and historic Balboa Theatre in downtown San Diego. The “Marilyn at 80: Some Still Like It Hot” e-auction and VIP dance party will feature the raciest nude photos of the actress’ career, which will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. Wet: San Diego’s Moxie Theatre is kicking off its second season at 8:00 p.m. with the debut production of Wet, or Isabella the Pirate Queen Enters the Horse Latitudes. Lizzy Duffy, playwright of past Moxie hit Dog Act, has integrated a slew of zany, fun-loving characters ranging from female pirates to knife-fighting drag queens. Tickets are $20. Beanies and bikinis: For all you snow bunnies out there, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., snow will besiege Wave House Belmont Park as a massive two-story rail structure erupts next to the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster and 22 tons of snow blankets the familiar beachfront amusement park. Sun Diego Boardshops’ “Beanies & Bikinis II,” a snowboard competition and best trick contest, returns to Wave House Belmont Park. The event will be followed by a party open to those 21 and older. Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas: America ‘s favorite holiday fable, back for its ninth year, is a wonderful, whimsical production that will once again jump right off the pages of the classic Dr. Seuss book and onto the Old Globe stage. Come take part in the fun as the Globe is transformed into snow-covered Who-ville right down to the last can of Who-hash! Rolling on dubs: Dub Dynamite is a weekly DJ sound showcase of reggae roots, rarities, rub-a-dub and 21st century dub music concocted by Lionel Judah (a.k.a. French Connection: Concetta K. Antico, a renowned San Diego-based oil painter specializing in plein air paintings, will offer an art class titled “The Salons of Paris 1900’s: History of The Salon” from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. Students will be treated to a fascinating historical lecture and will learn to replicate an iconic painting by Impressionist Frederic Brazille. African-Americans and HIV: In recognition of World AIDS Day, a local perspective presentation on African-Americans and HIV will be conducted by Amadou Diagne, senior medical liaison at Gilead Sciences.
