James Dent, owner of Wireman, Inc., began as an electrician in 1971. Originally working for his father in Virginia, he acquired the knowledge necessary to start a company of his own, Point Loma Electric, in 1988. Since then, the company has flourished.

During the early ’90s, Dent fulfilled his civic duties and beyond through his service on the Peninsula Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, the Ocean Beach Town Council and the Ocean Beach Merchants Association. The annual Ocean Beach Christmas Tree was wired and lighted by Dent for nine years, ending in 2004 when he and his wife relocated to Valley Center. Dent also donated his time and equipment to help clean up after the Paradise Fire swept through Valley Center during the Cedar Fire.
