“I would never vote for Toni Atkins again no matter what office she ran for.”
Dear Editor:
GREAT EDITORIAL !!! Thanks for bringing this out to the G&L community so they can think about this next time they vote. I would never vote for Toni Atkins again no matter what office she ran for.
Why are these council members so afraid to answer questions without an attorney present, are they guilty of something??? I suppose they will want to draw a pension when they are out of office. I hope Mike Aguirre will go after them sooner or later, thank the Lord we have him around, along with Donna Frye to keep some of them honest.
Our city government is really going to the gutter, the Mayor is playing games with us also, what about the money funneled from Doug Manchester to help him with Props B and C. Do we have another Halliburton going on so the Mayor can hire his friends?
P.S. Does Nicole have to put out his own Press Release instead of using space in his trash column? Thanks for saying it was a Press Release and not part of your reporting.

“It is disturbing that the homophobic comments made on the message board December 11, 2006 are being left uninvestigated.”
Dear Editor:
I write in response to your December 21, 2006 issue discussing homophobic remarks posted on a message board used by San Diego Police Officers and SDPOA employees. I think it is a shame that these individuals cowardly make demeaning remarks about certain groups of individuals, yet hide behind their insecurities and ignorance using handle (names) when doing so.
It is disturbing that the homophobic comments made on the message board December 11, 2006 are being left uninvestigated. The article reads, “There is no verifiable way to distinguish actual police officers and SDPOA employees from random users.” If these remarks were at all threatening to officers or anyone of high statue, then the likelihood of the individuals who logged onto a computer somewhere can be tracked down. I believe it is unrealistic for a law enforcement agency to be unable to find an internet user who is either an officer or an SDPOA employee who has a handle name as “NY” as mentioned in the article.
I would like to see The Gay & Lesbian Times follow up on this story within the next several months to see Bill Nemec’s (president of the SDPOA) progress installing a system of accountability, supported by three new implementations that he has assured the community.
