The Matchmaker: San Diego Repertory Theatre will present The Matchmaker, Thornton Wilder’s comedy about love, wonder and adventure at the Cygnet Theatre at 8 p.m. Directed by Sean Murray, the performance is about a Yonkers merchant and skinflint, Horace Vandergelder, who gets more than he bargains for when he employs the services of Mrs. Dolly Levi, matchmaker and life-force extraordinaire. Mistaken identities, near misses and a wild romp through 19th century New York City flow through this comic adventure. Tickets for the show are $27. WIGFEST: The San Diego Human Dignity Foundation will hold a fund-raiser for the Breast Cancer Alliance United to Support and Educate (BCAUSE) Fund at the Westin Horton Plaza Hotel from 8-11:30 p.m. Community members from throughout the San Diego area will join in the wig-wearing madness in a celebration of life and hair. The event will include cocktails, appetizers and desserts, along with a DJ spinning hits to dance the night away to support the cause. There will be a silent auction and many contests and prizes for the best wigs. Admission for the event is $90 at the door. Ray at Night: Ray Street galleries in North Park will welcome artists and art lovers for the Ray at Night art walk from 6-9 p.m. Galleries will display the works of painters, photographers, sketchers and sculptors allowing visitors to lead a self-guided tour of the one-block stretch southeast of 30th Street and University Avenue. La Buena Voz: As part of the Latino Film Festival, Cine Gay and FilmOut San Diego will co-present La Buena Voz, at UltraStar Cinemas at Hazard Center in Mission Valley at 7:30 p.m. The film will be followed by a Cine Gay celebration with special guest Biel Duran at The Brass Rail in Hillcrest at 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the film screening range from $7-$9. POZabilities train ride: San Diego POZabilities will be exploring the Pacific Southwest Railway Museum aboard the Golden State locomotive. The group will meet for lunch at a local restaurant, followed by a 16-mile round-trip journey into the history of railroading in the Pacific Southwest. After visiting the museum’s gift shop and Boxcar Theater, the group will depart from the historic Campo Depot for the 60- to 90-minute ride. Cost for the train ticket and museum is $12, plus the price of lunch. Ballroom and Latin dance class: As an alternative to the already existing club and country and western scene, this sports and social club meets at Shooterz bar in North Park. For those less experienced, a practicing party is held at 7 p.m. and regular classes begin at 8:15 p.m. The group focuses primarily on international ballroom and Latin dancing, and participants are welcome to come alone or with a dance partner. Rock climbing: The Gay Men’s Health Program at Family Health Centers of San Diego will host a rock climbing expedition to Solid rock Gym. Men interested in meeting other men in a social setting outside of the bar scene should meet the group first at Family Health centers of San Diego at 6:45 p.m. The group will hold a short introduction to the program before heading to Solid Rock Gym to climb the rock wall. Space is limited and an RSVP is requested. Admission to Solid Rock Gym is approximately $12. Charity Bachelor Auction: The Brass Rail and Buy Me Love Benefits will be auctioning off some of San Diego’s finest single gay men to raise money for charity at the newly renovated Brass Rail. The Charity Bachelor Auction will be hosted by Ophelia, from 7 p.m. to closing and will feature a mix and mingle, live music, drink specials and a bachelor auction. Each bachelor will choose the charity he would like to raise funds for. Tickets for the Charity Bachelor Auction are $20 and can be purchased online or at the door. Singles wine tasting course: The Wine Encounter will host a singles wine tasting course featuring pinot noir wines from 7-9:30 p.m. Participants will learn from wine professionals how to sniff, swirl and taste like the pros. During the class there will be a sampling of various types of wines from different regions around the world. After the course, participants will be able to mix and mingle while continuing to enjoy various wines and appetizers. The fee for the course is $39.99 and there is an additional materials fee of $10.
