Family movie night: The Center will host a family movie night with a special showing of the animated feature film Cars from 6-8:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend, and pizza and snacks will be available for purchase. Barzilla and Other Psalms: Edwin Decker will read a collection of poetry from his newest release, Barzilla and Other Psal-ms, at a spoken word performa-nce at Voz Alta starting at 9 p.m. The night will feature readings and spoken word by both Decker and Rich Ferguson. T.M.I. open-mic: Come sling your schlock and find your flock when The Rubber Rose presents the T.M.I. (too much information) “word-performance show” from 7:30-10 p.m. The evening will be hosted by Anna Joy Springer and Ali Liebegott. The author/visual artist duo has been described as sexy, fun, dreamy, mysterious and queer. This is not your average spoken word show, as it takes place in the middle of a sex shop. It is a literary arts extravaganza and open-mic for feminists and queers. Suggested donation is $5, with no one turned away for lack of funds. Zoo excursion: The Gay Men’s Health Program at Family Health Centers of San Diego will be hosting an excursion to the San Diego Zoo in Balboa Park. The group will meet at the front entrance of the zoo at 10 a.m. Gay and bisexual men interested in socializing with and meeting other men out of the bar scene are encourage to attend. St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Festival: The 27th annual San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Family Festival, presented by Guinness and the Irish Congress of Southern California, will take place in Balboa Park from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. The parade will begin at Fifth and Juniper avenues. This year, the parade theme is “Celebrating the Culinary Arts,” and the festival is an opportunity to celebrate the culture of the Irish community through song, dance, food and crafts. Five-Minute Man: Momentum, from the Gay Men’s Health Program at Family Health Centers of San Diego, will host Five-Minute Man at 7 p.m. at the Joyce Beers Community Center. This social gathering will offer a fun and interactive alternative way to meet other guys in the San Diego area. The event is free and refreshments will be served. Poz yoga: A yoga and meditation class for HIV-positive individuals will take place from 4-5:30 p.m. at The Center. The class will specifically address strengthening the immune system. Gay bingo: The Center will host bingo starting at 7 p.m. Admission for 10 games is $10 for a six-card game pad. The prize for the first nine games is $50 and for the last game is $100. There is also a Door Prize Dash where 10 attendees can win non-cash prizes from free bingo games to items donated by various sponsor merchants in the community. Diva’s Night Out: San Diego State University’s monthly drag show series, “Diva’s Nite Out,” will return to SDSU Aztec Center Backdoor Theater with a special show to benefit the Hillcrest History Guild. A special visual tribute to Hillcrest, complete with historical photos, dance music, go-go dancers, prizes and socializing will start at 6 p.m. The main show, with a talented line-up of performers hosted by Regina Styles, begins at 7 p.m. Admission is free, yet donations for the efforts to produce Hillcrest’s centennial celebration will be accepted.
