Peggy Walkush was tired of the rat race, so she left a long career with a Fortune 500 corporation to follow her dream of working in real estate. Real estate had been a passion of hers since she bought her first “starter home” in her early 20s. Since then, she has traded up several times and while not particularly handy, she loves the creative aspects of remodeling and renovating. This personal experience is put to good use as she helps her clients navigate the ins and outs of real estate transactions. She attributes her success in real estate to her adherence to three principles: trust, patience and professionalism.

Originally from a small town near Pittsburgh, Pa., Peggy moved to San Diego after graduating from college. She’s lived here for 20 years and now lives with Jan, her partner of 11 years in their North Park home along with their three “children” – two adorable cocker spaniels and a troublemaking cat.

When she is not at home or at work, Peggy is an active member of the community. She has a difficult time understanding apathy because she believes that we owe it to the next generation to leave the world in better condition than when we came. Peggy is proud to have served on the finance committee of Christine Kehoe’s successful 2004 state Senate campaign. She is also a four-year breast cancer survivor and is a major fund-raiser for the American Cancer Society. Her battle with breast cancer also inspired her and her partner Jan to help found the San Diego Human Dignity Foundation’s BCAUSE breast cancer fund. Her involvement in the community led last year to being honored for her philanthropic work at The Center’s annual women’s night.

Although it is a challenge to juggle work, home and the community, Peggy attempts to not only keep all her balls in the air, but to make it look effortless as well.
