The Long Christmas Ride Home: The Diversionary Theatre will present The Long Christmas Ride Home: A Puppet Play with Actors at 8 p.m. The play, by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Paula Vogel, tells the story of what happens on a snowy Christmas Eve for a troubled family of five. It features puppets created by the Puppetry Center of San Diego. Tickets are $29 for adults. Students, seniors and military receive $4 off. Smell the Glamour: Julie Brown will star in her first-ever, live, one-woman show, Smell the Glamour, at The Villa in Palm Springs at 8 p.m. The award-winning performer and gay icon will be featuring her new song, “I Want to be Gay,” and her cult classic, “The Homecoming Queen’s Got a Gun!” The show includes what Brown calls her “Festival of Wigs,” where she plays a gaggle of famous women from Mary Kate Olsen to Frida Kahlo. JPride Passover Seder: JPride will host its annual Passover Seder at The Center at 5 p.m. The event will feature a catered, kosher meal and an evening of songs, celebration and reflection. Through a retelling of the ancient exodus from Egypt, the group will make relevant the oppression felt by their ancestors, who were freed from the bondage of slavery, by comparing it to the status of GLBT people in society today. JPride welcomes people of all faiths to join the group for the celebration. Children and families are welcome and encouraged to attend. The cost for Jewish Community Center members is $36 for adults and $18 for children. The cost for non-members is $42 for adults and $20 for children. Women’s country-western dance: The Women’s Resource Center at The Center is offering new women’s country-western dance classes from 7-8:30 p.m. Participants in the class will learn how to two-step, western waltz, shadow and line dance. Beginners are always encouraged and welcome to attend. No partner is necessary, just a willingness to learn and have fun. Leather or leather-like soles are suggested. The Matchmaker: San Diego Repertory Theatre will present the final week of The Matchmaker, Thornton Wilder’s comedy about love, wonder and adventure at the Cygnet Theatre at 8 p.m. Directed by Sean Murray, the performance is about a Yonkers merchant and skinflint, Horace Vandergelder, who gets more than he bargains for when he employs the services of Mrs. Dolly Levi, matchmaker and life-force extraordinaire. Mistaken identities, near misses and a wild romp through 19th century New York City flow through this comic adventure. Tickets for the show are $27. GLBT Community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt: The Imperial Court de San Diego, along with several other community co-sponsors, will host the 2007 GLBT Community Children’s Easter Egg Hunt in Trolley Barn Park at 2 p.m. The event is free for children 12 and under. Donations of Easter eggs, baskets and fillers are still needed. Trolley Barn Park is located at Adams Avenue, just east of Park Boulevard.
