Rock-n-Roll in the morning, Wicked Games at night: Each June, Suzuki teams up with local bands and sports promoters to stage the annual Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon, which benefits the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Since 1997, it has raised over $35 million for this worthy cause. If you need a softball fix: Catch Rounding Third at the Old Globe. Rounding Third is a quirky comedy in which two mismatched men coach a Little League baseball team. Don is a win-at-all-costs veteran whose son is the star pitcher; Michael is the wide-eyed newcomer who just wants the kids to have fun. Over the course of the season, the two disparate men clash on a variety of issues — from the philosophy of victory to the importance of honesty in relationships. It all comes to a head as they attempt to cajole their struggling young team into the playoffs, while battling their own personal demons. Rounding Third runs through July 13. See it tonight at 8:00 p.m. Call (619) 239-2255 for ticket information.
Don’t lie: You know you want to see it. It’s Michael Flatley’s Lord of the Dance, at the San Diego Civic Theatre tonight at 7:30 p.m. Flatley no longer performs in the show (which might be considered a bonus by some), but it’s still an extravaganza, with more than 40 frighteningly fit dancers strutting their stuff. See everything from Irish step dancing to gypsy flamenco. Call (619) 570-1100 for ticket information.
