Dr. David Shamblaw, M.D., has been in private practice for 17 years. He has spent the past nine years in San Diego, where he specializes in HIV medicine and also provides his patients with primary care services.

“Offering comprehensive medical care and the latest in HIV treatments, including early access to medication and participation in clinical trials, is something I pride my practice on,” he said.

The HIV specialist also offers onsite lab services and anonymous HIV testing at his office.

Originally from Canada, Shamblaw has held positions as a professor in the Family Medicine Departments at McGill University in Montreal and at Boston University. He has been involved in the GLBT and HIV/AIDS community since he made his move to San Diego and is an active supporter of Being Alive, Mama’s Kitchen and Stepping Stone.

“It is my goal to provide the community with education programs on HIV/AIDS and other health-related topics to ensure the community has the latest information about the treatments and options available to help them live a quality life,” Shamblaw said.

For his contributions, he was given Being Alive’s Health Hero Award in 2003.
