Beer and burgers in a garden
Station Tavern and Burgers in South Park held its grand opening this week, adding to the neighborhood “a unique park with a great snack bar,” as described by owner Sam Chammas, who also co-owns Rivera Supper Club in La Mesa. Housed in an old trolley stop, the triangular-shaped eatery features more outdoor seating than indoor and includes furniture made from old wood, plus a half-scale trolley for “kids and adults who want to squeeze into it.” The burgers come in all types: ground Angus, turkey and house made veggie patties. There’s also a full bar with six beers on tap. Hours are 4-11 p.m., closed on Mondays. Station Tavern and Burgers is located at 2204 Fern St. For more information, call 619-255-0657.
Chocolate rumor
The empty space recently occupied by Mille Feuille Chocolates at Fifth and University avenues in Hillcrest is reportedly making way for another chocolatier, a Milan-based company specializing in exotic gelatos. Negotiation for the building lease is currently underway.
