West Coast Tavern offers a deal that puts a beer in your hand and a theater seat below your rear for only $10. The Cohn Restaurant Group is offering “wine on a dime” at all of its restaurants, between Tuesday, March 2 and Friday, March 12. Purchase a glass from their “dime” list and receive a second glass for 10 cents. Restaurants include The Prado, Kemo Sabe, the La Jolla and Gaslamp Strip Clubs and others.
A wine lover’s paradise awaits at the Del Mar Fairgrounds, where 200 of California’s smallest winemakers will converge at the Exhibit Hall to pour more than 800 different samples of their latest and greatest releases. The event, presented by Family Winemakers of California, will be held from 3 to 6 p.m., March 14. Admission is $45 in advance or $55 at the door. Award-winning winemaker Frank Leal travels from San Benito, CA to present a lineup of six releases for a six-course gourmet dinner presented by the Wine Vault and Bistro in Mission Hills. Red-carpet cupcakes
Attracting long lines down Girard Avenue for its grand opening, Cups’ La Jolla recently opened its organic “cupcakery and lounge” with more than 50 different types of cupcakes ranging from vegan and gluten-free to classic and exotic. The company arrives here after serving as the exclusive sweets provider for celebrities who attended January’s Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah. Lasagna with many twists
Lady Lasagna has finally arrived to San Diego with two locations, in Scripps Ranch Marketplace and North County Fair mall. The restaurants offer 10 different types of lasagnas using homemade sheet pasta and a variety of fresh fillings and toppings. Among the more unusual are lasagnas layered with radicchio; salmon; truffles and mushrooms; and for sweet-tooth visitors, a confectionary lasagna using chocolate. 858-271-1144.
Urban Passover
Chef Matt Gordon and business partner Scott Watkins, both of Urban Solace, will present a pre-fixed Passover dinner paired with West Coast wines, beginning at sundown on Monday, March 29. The menu will feature Gordon’s time-honored Seder recipes, including cold-smoked char, and fennel-garlic matzo ball with Jidori chicken.
