Be a Prom Star! If you’re 14-20 years old, Gaylexy: The Other Prom on June 19, 6-9 p.m. at The Center, is for you. If you’re a little outside that range – and let’s face it, most of us are – you can help make sure The Hillcrest Youth Center’s annual prom for GLBT youth and their allies is as fantastic as a prom should be. If you’re thinking about taking the plunge into a new relationship, sway the odds in your favor with the Start Right, Stay Connected workshop. Join Michael Scott, MFT, and Patty Mangini, PhD, on Saturday, April 24, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at The Center to learn some basic tools for creating a strong relationship. There is a $50 fee per couple (less expensive than a breakup) that includes course materials and light snacks. On April 20 the ever-happening Two Cents with Aaron Heier is back at The Center. In honor of Dining Out for Life® (which takes place Thursday, April 29, just in case it’s not yet circled in red on your calendar) April’s event features DOFL spokesman Rich Sweeney. If you’ve watched season five of Top Chef, you know who I’m talking about. If not, this is your chance to meet the man Aaron calls “San Diego’s hottest cheflebrity.” The fun starts at 7 pm with nosh and wine generously provided by Gossip Grill, and is open to everyone 21-plus. It’s free (but you’ll get more karma points with a donation).

Are you a sporty type with intellectual tendencies? The Center and the Women’s Studies Department at San Diego State University have a free lecture designed just for you. Don’t miss Outlaws on the Playing Field: Women’s Sexualities and Homophobia in Women’s Sports on Thursday, April 15, 7 p.m. in The Center’s library.

Love, sex and intimacy – what could be better? Join us Wednesday, April 14, at 6 p.m. for I Love 2 Love You Baby! Exploring the Myths & Realities of Love, Sex, & Intimacy Between Women, presented by Lisa Schimmel Ph.D. and Diane Pendragon Psy.D. Learn about maintaining sexual health, finding love and developing true intimacy between women. This workshop is free, but RSVP to workshops@thecentersd.org to reserve your space.

A day-long festival of workshops! Entertainment! Resources for lesbian, bisexual and transgender women! You’ll find it all at Women’s Fest 2010: Strength in Diversity on Saturday, May 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Center.
