Good enough to eat

Whether you’re in lust or in love, there’s always that certain someone who triggers the carnal thought of being, “good enough to eat.” But how about feather dusting your partner first in edible body powder before unleashing your animal urges? Or perhaps dabbing each other’s private parts with a savory balm that introduces the flavor of crème brulee to a sexually stimulated body?
Jamah Dacus of University Heights provides such “food” for thought. As director of For Your Pleasure Parties, she caters to about 800 clients in the region who invite her into their houses for tasteful demonstrations in chocolate body paint and other digestible creams, gels and warming oils. Her sales inventory also includes an array of sex toys that include multi-speed vibrators, foreplay cards and everything in between. But fulfilling one’s tactile pleasures is often preceded or combined with pleasing the palate.
“About 80 percent of my customers buy one of the edible products,” says Dacus. “They provide easy ways to start things off with your partner. And who doesn’t want to have their partners taste better?”
The chocolate body paint, for instance, is easy to apply and “has an incredible flavor.” From the line of edible body powders, which come in raspberry, cherry, honey and exotic fruit flavors, Dacus recommends using them as a first course to the body paint. “When using the powders before the paint, you can turn your partner into a dessert.”
The powders are packaged in 5.2-ounce tubs and include a feather duster. “They last for years, even if you use them once a week.”
The edible creams, she says, “are great for oral sex and enhancing the body’s natural lubrication.” They come in key lime pie, piña colada, banana, cherry and vanilla, which many customers say resembles the enchanting flavor of crème brulee. There are also flavored warming gels that tingle specific areas of the body with the essences of cinnamon, mint-chocolate and a plethora of other flavors. “Everything’s made with natural products,” Dacus assures.
Dacus throws about 12 parties a month in addition to running the accounting department for an automotive company. And many of the parties, she notes, are either hosted by GLBT clientele or include about 50 percent GLBT attendees when hosted by others.
In a more public forum, Dacus will conduct a workshop-type party for Women’s History Month at Cal State San Marcos, at 6:30 p.m. on March 9. According to Heather Hitson, coordinator for the college’s Women’s History Month, “We have 24 events throughout March, and this is definitely among the more edgier ones. We want women to feel comfortable talking about sexuality and their bodies. And from a personal experience, the chocolate body paint that Jamah will demonstrate is perfect for Easter.”
Dacus points out that during her parties, “Nobody gets naked, and all of the edible products are tasted from the left arms of guests.” Non-edible products, such as dildos, pulsator eggs and penis pumps, are handled with the right arm.
And like Tupperware parties, the hosts commonly roll out wine, champagne and finger foods. Some utilize the serving ware available in Dacus’ catalog. “We have a chip-and-dip container shaped like a penis. The chips go in the penis mold and the dip goes in the testicle section.”
One party host, she recalls, took the smorgasbord to new heights by naming each food dish something sexual. The spread included cocktail hotdogs, meatballs and a cake fashioned into breasts.
But beneath the fun and frolic, Dacus says her goal is to educate people about sexuality and help them learn the facts about their bodies. “I’ve always been very open talking about sex and teaching my friends how to add spice to their love lives. The parties are a hit among straight, gay and lesbian guests. And the edible products in particular work for everybody.”
