Name: Scott Routh
Age: 44
Self definition: Although you may see me out every once in a blue moon, I’m what I consider to be a non-scene kind of guy. I’m brutally honest and a man of high integrity; a man that’s self-confident, but not cocky. Don’t judge a book by its cover; the rough exterior is only that; I am a total sweetheart inside. I am the “what you see is what you get” type; a blue jean and T-shirt kind of guy.
Where were you at 9 a.m. Sunday morning?
I was training at the Mission Valley 24 Hour Fitness.
What person has influenced you more than any other, and how?
My best friend of 20 years and roommate Frank has been there for me through thick and thin. His encouragement that I return to school and obtain my degree has been the best thing that has ever happened to me.
When don’t you feel equal?
At this stage of my life, I don’t ever feel unequal about anything.
Where were you last Wednesday at noon?
I was at Wal-Mart with my mother getting pictures developed from our recent trip to Hawaii. My mother and I take a vacation together every other year.
When was the last time you felt proud?
I was very proud of myself when I wrote an essay and won a scholarship to study abroad in Salamanca, Spain last spring. I had the time of my life and highly recommend the program.
If there was a defining moment in your life, what was it?
After spending several years in the hospitality industry and becoming disgruntled and feeling “burned out,” I decided to leave my profession and try something new. Realizing the importance of higher education I went back to college and have never been happier in my life.
Where were you at 10 p.m. Friday night?
I was home in my bed alone, fast asleep.
What is your most immediate goal?
My most immediate goal is to finish my education at SDCC, and transfer to San Diego State University in fall 2009 to earn a degree and teaching credential so I may teach elementary school.
When do you feel total joy?
I feel total joy at the end of each semester when I get to see my accomplishments, i.e. my grades.
