Hola. Thank you for the correspondence. February was a busy and important month. To begin with, I was surprised at the high demand for the senior resources phone book. I now have more books available to give away, so if you or someone you know is in need of the new 2006 Older Adult Social Services Agencies Phone Book, you can receive one free by contacting Azteca Project at www.aztecaproject.org.

If you have not done your income tax return, there are places where you can have the tax return preparation done for free. If you plan on using the short income tax form, if you made under $35,000 last year, or if you are over 50 years old, contact Azteca Project for more information.

Many might not know Mexican front-runner for president Andes Manuel Lopez Obrador, from the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD). While addressing a large crowd in Avenida Constitution in Tijuana, he said: “The problem of illegal immigration is not the Unites States but Mexico. … Without economic growth and job creation in Mexico, we won’t be able to confront the migratory phenomenon. Mexico should be able to provide jobs and opportunities for the Mexican people and stop depending on the Unites States.”

I believe that Obrador is the first candidate to address the economic migratory problem and dependency on the United States. We will wait and see how long he continues addressing those issues.

I encourage people to try for home ownership, if possible – a piece of the American dream. Remember, if you pay rent, you are actually paying someone else’s mortgage. So if you have paid rent for 20 or 30 years, you have actually paid for someone’s home. There is a program that permits undocumented migrants to buy a home, but be careful! While there is no law that can prevent undocumented individuals from buying a home, there are laws that prevent them from living in them. So be careful. If you want more information on these programs, contact Azteca Project.

There are other programs that help people buy their homes, such as the Veterans Administration, which assists veterans. Also, if you are employed and have good credit, there are programs that can help you. It is important that you have a good credit history.

A workshop is being planned by Azteca Project in the near future about understanding the importance of having good credit, how to get it started, how to manage it, how to take care of it, and how to understand the price of getting things on credit. Location, date and time will be announced as soon as the workshop is scheduled.

If you attended Hillcrest Mardi Gras and you don’t quite remember how much fun you had, just look at the beads you collected. In case you didn’t know, there is a rule that you must give away all the beads that you purchase. How much you like what you see will determine what kind and how many beads to give away.

March 9-19: The San Diego Latino Film Festival will kick off with a celebration. For the first time, they will present several gay Latino films. Si vas a preparar tus impuestos y ganaste menos de 35 mil el año pasado y vas a usar la forma corta. O si eres mayor de 50 años de edad hay lugares donde te pueden asistir con la preparación gratuitamente, para información comunícate con Azteca Project. No se si ustedes se dieron cuenta de Andes Manuel López Obrador el candidato del Partido Revolucionario Democrático (PRD) que esta participando para ser el Próximo Presidente de la republica Mexicana se presento y hablo enfrente de una multitud en la Avenida Constitución en Tijuana. Uno de los comentarios que el dijo qué “El Problema de inmigración no es de los Estados Unidos Americanos pero si es de México. Sin progresos ni trabajos en México no podremos enfrenta el problema. México debería de ofrecer trabajos y oportunidades para resolver el problema de emigrantes de México y así. Mismo parar de depender en los estados Unidos Americanos.” Me parece que el es el primer candidato que identifica el problema con México y no con los Estados Unidos Americanos.

Yo aconsejo que los que puedan comprar su propia casa lo hagan pues recuerda que si estas pagando renta en realidad estas asiendo los pagos hipotecarios de otra persona. Hay un programa que esta asiendo posible de que las personas que no están legalmente documentadas puedas comprar casa, pues en los Estados Unidos Americanos no ay leyes que prohíban a una persona que es ilegal comprar propiedades pero tengan en cuenta que si es ilegal de que una persona que es ilegal redice en ellas. Azteca Project esta planeando un taller donde se explicara la importancia de tener crédito, como obtenerlo, como cuidarlo, mantenerlo, y el costo de usarlo, le localidad no se a confirmado pero se anunciará lo más pronto posible.
